DESCRIPTION:
Dry Eye Support Pack, provided by Douglas Laboratories, is a unique, convenient pack containing organic, cold pressed flax seed oil and ultra-refined, molecularly distilled fish oil softgels, designed to support the symptoms of dry eye.
FUNCTIONS:
Dry eye is a relatively common eye complaint that is experienced by as many as 10 million people in the United States. Dry eye is characterized by an itchy, irritated and burning sensation that can also be accompanied by blurred vision. To better understand dry eye, it helps to understand that tears are composed of more than just water, and in fact contain proteins, mucus, salts and certain types of fat. All of these components work together to help lubricate and protect the eye. However, if the ratio of the components is altered, such as an increase in the amount of salt compared with water, tears can evaporate too quickly, resulting in the symptoms of dry eye.
Dry eye can result from living in certain climates, such as those that are particularly dry, but also can occur in association with certain diseases as well as a natural part of aging. Research has shown that certain important fats called essential fatty acids found in certain plants and fish can play a role in helping to decrease the symptoms experienced with dry eye. Dry Eye Support Pack provides the omega-3 fatty acids EPA(eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA(docosahexaenoic acid) from fish oil as well alpha-linolenic acid from flax seed oil. Omega-3 fatty acids also play important roles in supporting cardiovascular and neurological health.
